SSC86 | Van Harte Gefeliciteerd

Sanne, our youngest girl, is celebrating her 10th birthday today. She's been looking forward to this day for quite a while. We surprised her with gifts this morning, and a handmade card. The birthday card is based on Iwona Palamountain's Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #86. I used the Farm Girl collection from October Afternoon.

I cut the numbers and frame from patterned paper, but also from coaster-board to make them a bit thicker and more sturdy. The numbers were adhered with adhesive dots to create more depth.

I heat embossed the sentiment using white embossing powder.

SUPPLIES: Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Cream) | Patterned paper: October Afternoon (Farm Girl) | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Global Greetings: Dutch) | Ink: VersaMark, Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch: Tea Dye Duo) | Embossing powder: A Muse Studio (White) | Button: Papertrey Ink (White & Cream Mix) | Twine: Cards & Wishes | Lace: May Arts | Tools: Papertrey Ink (By the Numbers Die Collection, Half & Half Die Collection, Beautiful Blooms II #3 Die Collection), MFT Stamps (Die-namics Vintage Cameo Frame), sewing machine | Adhesive dots: Zva Creative | Other: Coasters

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas. Have a wonderful time with your family.

Retrosketches #42 | Merry Christmas

Another sketch challenge blog I came across recently is Retrosketches. I bookmarked their blog, but haven't had a chance yet to play along. I had to make a few more Christmas cards this week and used Sketch #42 as inspiration for the card I made for my mother-in-law. Again I used October Afternoon's Make it Merry collection.

The smaller snowflake is cut from glitter cardstock, but that's hard to see in the pictures.

SUPPLIES: Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Cream) | Patterned paper: October Afternoon (Make It Merry) | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Trees with Trimmings) | Ink: Versafine (Vintage Sepia), Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch: Tea Dye Duo) | Button: Buttons Galore & More | Twine: Cards & Wishes | Adhesive dots: Zva Creative | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Damask Snowflakes Die Collection), Wplus9 (Simple Snowflake Die, Timeless Tags), sewing machine | Other: glitter cardstock

Have a wonderful day.

SSC85 | Merry Christmas to You

I recently came across Iwona Palamountain's Sketchbook Saturday Challenges for the very first time. I visit Iwona's blog occasionally, but have never noticed her sketch challenges before. I guess I always checked her blog on the wrong day and never looked any further. Apparently I never noticed the sketch in the sidebar either. Well...I know of her challenges now and will play along more often. Here's my take on Challenge #85. I used the Make it Merry Christmas collection from October Afternoon.

And a close up of the embellishments. The rusty bells and ivory twine are available in my store.

SUPPLIES: Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Cream) | Patterned paper: October Afternoon (Make It Merry) | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Ornaments) | Ink: Versafine (Vintage Sepia), Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch: Tea Dye Duo) | Felt: Felt on the Fly | Button: Buttons Galore & More | Twine: Cards & Wishes | Lace: May Arts | Rusty bells: Cards & Wishes | Adhesive dots: Zva Creative | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Double-Ended Banners Die, Limitless Layers: 1 3/4" Circle Die Collection), Wplus9 (Simple Snowflake Die), sewing machine

I'll be back with another Christmas card tomorrow. Until then...

12 on 12/12/12

Today is a special day. It's 12/12/12 and Fleur is turning 12 years old. What an amazing date to turn 12, isn't it? She's been looking forward to this birthday for quite a while. Last week she was interviewed by a journalist from Algemeen Dagblad about this special date, and the article was in the newspaper on December 7th. The photo above was taken by the newspaper's photographer.

It's good to see our girl happy and healthy again. This past year has been a tough year for all of us, and especially for Fleur. I won't share any detailed information on her condition, but we had ups and some serious downs. Earlier this year things didn't look good and her hospitalization and stay in a clinic were one of the toughest periods in our life. Fortunately she's made some great achievements in the past few months, and we are so happy that we can celebrate this special day in each other's company and in good health.

I made Fleur a birthday card using October Afternoon's Farm Girl collection.

I love the denim patterned paper of this collection.

I created this felt flower using one of Papertrey Ink's Bloom Builders dies.

SUPPLIES: Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Cream) | Patterned paper: October Afternoon (Farm Girl) | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Birthday Basics) | Ink: Versafine (Vintage Sepia), Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch: Tea Dye Duo) | Felt: Papertrey Ink (Simply Chartreuse), Felt on the Fly | Button: Papertrey Ink (Harvest Gold) | Twine: Cards & Wishes | Adhesive dots: Zva Creative | Tools: Papertrey Ink (By The Numbers Die Collection, Frilly Flowers Die Collection, Journaling Tabs Die Collection, Bloom Builders #1 Die Collection), MFT Stamps (Die-namics Vintage Cameo Frame Die), sewing machine

Fleur's best friends will come over for lunch and cake at noon, and our family will be here in the afternoon.

Thank you for stopping by, and have a wonderful day.

Good Tidings

Every year I tell myself to start early on Christmas cards, but as usual I've hardly made any cards yet and it's already December. Here's a clean and simple Christmas card I made using my Wplus9 stamps. The background was stamped in soft and neutral colors.

SUPPLIES: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Kraft, Raven), Papertrey Ink (Vintage Cream) | Clear stamps: Wplus9 (Iconic Christmas, Folk Art Flurries), Waltzingmouse Stamps (Musical Backgrounds) | Ink: Versafine (Onyx Black), A Muse Studio (Latte, Winter Sky) | Adhesive dots: Zva Creative | Tools: Wplus9 (Iconic Christmas Die), sewing machine

The die-cuts used on this card are part of the mini kit Noel. In case you have to make some last minute Christmas cards or would already like to work on cards for next year, there are still a few mini kits available in my store. You can find the Christmas kits here.

Until next time...

Happy Birthday

Our niece Renee celebrated her 9th birthday on November 20th. Of course I made her a birthday card, but totally forgot to post it here on my blog. I used the flower stamps from Papertrey Ink's Little Lady set to create the background paper. The card is pretty clean and simple, but I love how it turned out.

The flowers were stamped in colors that match the October Afternoon patterned paper.

SUPPLIES: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Sawdust), Papertrey Ink (Vintage Cream) | Patterned papers: October Afternoon (Sidewalks) | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Little Lady, Heart-2-Heart #5, Big Birthday Wishes) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch: Tea Dye Duo), Versafine (Vintage Sepia), A Muse Studio (Eucalyptus, Fern, Blush, Cranberry, Buttercup) | Adhesive dots: Zva Creative | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Heart-2-Heart #5 Die), sewing machine

Have a wonderful day.

WMSC #125 | Christmas Greetings

It has been ages ago since I played along with a challenge. Last night I had plans to clean my scrap room, but instead I made a card for Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge 125. My Waltzingmouse stamps were collecting dust, so it was time to get them out and ink them up. Since Christmas is coming up I decided to create a Christmas card based on the sketch.

I stamped the music notes in vintage cream ink on the ripe avocado cardstock.

SUPPLIES: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Sawdust), Papertrey Ink (Ripe Avocado) | Patterned papers: Papertrey Ink (Distressed Dots) | Clear stamps: Waltzingmouse Stamps (Compliments of the Season, Very Vintage labels No. 10, Musical Backgrounds), Papertrey Ink (Holly Jolly) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch: Tea Dye Duo, Ripe Avocado, Vintage Cream), Versafine (Vintage Sepia) | Twine: Cards & Wishes | Ribbon: Cards & Wishes | Button: Papertrey Ink (Ripe Avocado) | Adhesive dots: Zva Creative | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Boxy Banners Die Collection, Photo Finish Strips Die Collection), Spellbinders (Labels 10), sewing machine | Other: sheet music

Thank you for stopping by, and have a wonderful day.

Happy Birthday

I had plans to post this birthday card a lot earlier, but since the recipient didn't receive it in time for her birthday I had to wait a little longer. I made this card for Melissa Bickford, one of Papertrey Ink's stamp designers. I love many of her stamp designs and have quite some of her mini stamp sets as well as some other sets. I knew the card would probably not arrive in time since I sent it five or six days in advance, but I didn't expect it to take two weeks either. Anyway, the card arrived last weekend so now I can share it here.

The flower stamps I used are from Melissa's Flower Fusion #3 mini stamp set, and the papers are from October Afternoon.

SUPPLIES: Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Cream) | Patterned papers: October Afternoon (Cakewalk) | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Big Birthday Wishes, Flower Fusion #3) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch: Tea Dye Duo), Versafine (Onyx Black) | Twine: Cards & Wishes | Pearls, adhesive dots: Zva Creative | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Medium Scalloped Border Die, Flower Fusion #3 Die, Mat Stack 1 Die, Layerz Mat Stack 1 Die), sewing machine

I've been busy working on new Christmas/Winter kits. Here's a sneak peek of the new Christmas kit Noel.
This kit as well as two other kits will be available in my shop Cards & Wishes later this week.

Have a wonderful day.

Merry Xmas

It feels so good to be creative again. After months of absence and occassionally creating and posting a card I've been really enjoying the creative process again. And now that I've been making cards again I realize how much I missed it.

Last weekend I was in the mood for making a Christmas card. Last year I bought October Afternoon's Holiday Style collection but never used the papers. Recently I went through my stash and put lots of my scrapbook stuff aside to sell in the future, but I kept all of my October Afternoon goodies. I just love their papers too much.

SUPPLIES: Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (Rustic Cream) | Patterned papers: October Afternoon (Holiday Style) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch: Tea Dye Duo) | Twine: Cards & Wishes | Ribbon: Cards & Wishes | Button: Buttons Galore | Pearls, adhesive dots: Zva Creative | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Edgers #1 Die Collection, Wonderful Words: Holiday Die Collection, Wplus9 (Simple Snowflake Die)| Other: kraft tag

For those of you who are interested in my crochet creations...I've set up a new blog that is dedicated to crochet. The blog is called Studio 92 designs and can be found here. Last week I crocheted Xmas tree ornaments for charity. I made some extra to give away. Hop on over to my crochet blog and leave a comment here for a chance to win the set.

Have a wonderful day!

Happy Halloween | Got Sketch? 150

Today I get to show you the other card I made last week. The card is based on the new sketch #150 from Got Sketch?. Our theme is Fall or Halloween. Too bad we don't have Halloween over here, because I love to create something for Halloween. I didn't have any Halloween patterned papers in my stash, so I picked some papers from October Afternoon and Lily Bee Design that match the Halloween/Fall theme.

SUPPLIES: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (kraft) | Patterned papers: Lily Bee Design, October Afternoon | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Happy Day, Big Birthday Wishes) | Ink: Versafine (Onyx Black), Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch: Tea Dye Duo) | Twine: Cards & Wishes | Button: A Muse Studio (Onyx) | Crystal, adhesive dots: Zva Creative (CRS-03CB-117, AD01CB101) | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Limitless Layers: 2 1/2" Circle Die Collection, Double-Ended Banners Die), sewing machine

Thank you for stopping by, and have a wonderful day.

Many Thanks

It's been ages since I blogged, but I'm back. Due to our personal circumstances I didn't feel like being creative. Well, I wanted to be creative and create cards, but I couldn't do it. I had no inspiration and didn't know where to start. But....the inspiration is finally getting back. I already made some new mini kits for my shop Cards & Wishes lately and yesterday I made two cards.

This card is for my friend Ingeborg. She's a wonderful woman and such a sweetheart and I still owed her a Thank You card for a wonderful surprise she sent us a few weeks ago.

A beautiful pearl flower from Zva Creative. It goes really well with the flower die-cut from Papertrey Ink.

SUPPLIES: Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (Rustic Cream) | Patterned paper: Crate Paper (Pretty Party) | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Embellishments) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch: Tea Dye Duo), Versafine (Onyx Black), VersaColor (Pinecone) | Adhesive pearls, dots: Zva Creative | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Just the Ticket Border Die, Heart Border Die, Frilly Flowers Die Collection, Parisian Lace Doily Die), We R Memory Keepers (corner chomper), sewing machine

I can't show the other card yet, but will do so in a few days.

Enjoy your weekend!

iPad Sleeve

We got back from a 1-week holiday last Friday. A well-deserved holiday for all four of us. It's been a tough year for my family. Our eldest girl has been ill for a long time and was away from home since the beginning of May. She got released on August 10th, and we left that same day to spend a week together just before school starts again. Thankfully our girl is doing better. She still needs treatment, but it's so good to have her home again.

Our holiday was very relaxing and the weather was beautiful. I spent a lot of time crocheting outside in the yard of our holiday home. Just before we left I purchased this pattern for an iPad sleeve designed by Revlie Schuit. A fun and easy project that you can make yours by choosing your favorite color combo. Aqua, white and red is one of my favorites and I love how it turned out.

A close up of the granny squares...

SUPPLIES: Yarn: Drops Paris (2, 10, 12, 16) | Hook: Clover 4.5mm/7

Our weather has been very, very warm this weekend so I haven't been doing anything else other than crocheting in the shade.

Enjoy your day!

Happy Birthday | Ribbon Techniques Challenge

Today is the first online Stamp-a-faire event hosted by Papertrey Ink. PTI fans from all over the world join together on the forum and participate in the challenges. Fleur, my 11-year old girl and me sat down in my craft room to create a card for the Ribbon Techniques Challenge. I made a card inspired by Melissa Phillips' ribbon technique. The card is a mixture of my favorite brands...Papertrey Ink and October Afternoon.

I love the layered flower...

The denim twine matches great with the October Afternoon papers...

SUPPLIES: Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Cream) | Patterned paper: October Afternoon (Sidewalks, Sasparilla) | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Birthday Basics, Mat Stack 4 Collection) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Blueberry Sky, Vintage Tea Dye Duo), Versafine (Vintage Sepia) | Button: Papertrey Ink (White & Cream Mix) | Twine: Cards & Wishes | Felt: Papertrey Ink, Felt on the Fly | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Double-Ended Banners Die, Mat Stack 4 Die), sewing machine | Other: felt, foam adhesive

Hop on over to Fleur's own blog to see the card that she created based on Erin Lincoln's technique.

Besides crocheting I have also been working on a new mini kit that will be available in my shop soon. Here's a sneak peek of the new kit.

Give Away Flower Coaster

School's out for summer! Yesterday was the last day, and both girls took their teacher's gift to school. I already showed the flower coasters set I made for Sanne's teacher. I was happy to hear that her teacher was really pleased with the set. The set below is the one I made for Fleur's teacher. Unfortunately her teacher was not present yesterday, but she'll get the set today.

SUPPLIES: Yarn: Phil Cotton 3 (Blanc 0010, Vitamine 0006, Oeillet 0034) | Hook: Clover 2.75mm/C

Since I got so many positive comments on both coasters sets on Facebook I decided to make another set that I'll give away. So....if you would like to have the set below leave your name using the inlinkz tool. International entries are welcome too.

The deadline is Thursday July 12th. The winner will be announced on Friday July 13th.

Flower Coasters

The girls will have their last school day on Thursday and as usual I wanted to make a teacher's gift. Usually I give some chocolates or cookies in a handmade gift bag or box, but Sanne's teacher may not have any sugar so I decided to do something else this year. A while ago I pinned these gorgeous flower coasters by Yvestown on Pinterest. Last night I was thinking of a handmade gift for Sanne's teacher and all of a sudden I had to think of the coasters I pinned some months ago. A quick and easy project and perfect when you have to come up with something in a short time. I made them in cream and two shades of green as green is the teacher's favorite color. Hopefully she will like this gift.

SUPPLIES: Yarn: Catania (130, 205, 219) | Hook: Clover 2.75mm/C

Have a wonderful weekend!

Crochet Projects

My first crochet projects were blankets for Sanne and Fleur. I was inspired by Revlie's blanket that is based on Lucy's Neat Ripple Pattern. The pattern is easy to follow and I enjoyed making both blankets. This is the blanket I made for Fleur. She wanted a blanket in the new colors of her room (blue and purple) with a touch of green. The colors were chosen by her.

I love the colors...

The size of the blanket is 1.75m x 1m.

SUPPLIES: Yarn: Drops Paris (02, 08, 09, 10, 11, 16, 31) | Hook: Clover 6.0mm/J

My mother-in-law was so kind to weave in all the ends. I love to crochet, but weaving in all the ends is not my favorite thing to do.

I also love to make smaller projects such as little bags and flowers that don't take much time. A while ago I posted a crochet bag on my Facebook page that I made for my girls. Sue Ann, one of my friends, loved the bag. She has two girls and I decided to make them both a Strappy Boutique bag in their favorite color pink. Shipping to the USA took a bit longer than expected, but the bags arrived safe and sound some weeks ago and the girls love the bag.

This layered flower is one of my favorites...

SUPPLIES: Yarn: Robin Chunky | Hook: Clover 6.0mm/J

The Strappy Boutique Bag pattern is from Tangled Happy.

Thank you for stopping by. Have a wonderful Sunday!

Happy Father's Day

Early this morning Fleur and I made a cake for Father's Day and let Eric sleep in. Shortly after breakfast we left to see Sanne who had a hockey tournament in a village nearby. She already left last evening and stayed overnight. Her team did really well and won all 5 games. The girls had a blast....they played hockey and other games, had a disco party last night and went swimming at 7.30am this morning.

I wasn't well prepared for Father's Day this year and hadn't made any cards in advance. I even considered buying cards but ended up making cards myself at the very last minute. Since I didn't have much time I kept the designs simple. The first card is the one I made for Eric in his favorite color (blue) with a touch of red.

SUPPLIES: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Kraft), Papertrey Ink (Vintage Cream) | Patterned paper: October Afternoon (Sasparilla) | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Tag-its #2) | Ink: Versafine (Vintage Sepia), Papertrey Ink (Vintage Tea Dye Duo) | Twine: Cards & Wishes | Button: Papertrey Ink | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Boxy Banners Die Collection Seeing Stars Die Collection), EK Success (1 3/4" circle punch), sewing machine | Other: foamtape

I made my dad and father-in-law the same card. Not very original but I didn't have too much time to think about two different designs.

Just like Eric's card I used the Sasparilla collection from October Afternoon along with their Rocket Age collection.

SUPPLIES: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Kraft) | Patterned paper: October Afternoon (Sasparilla, Rocket Age) | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Daily Designs Sentiments) | Ink: Versafine (Onyx Black), Papertrey Ink (Vintage Tea Dye Duo) | Twine: Cards & Wishes | Button: Buttons Galore & More | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Half & Half Die Collection Seeing Stars Die Collection), EK Success (1 3/4" circle punch), sewing machine | Other: foamtape

Enjoy your day!

Sweet Granny Bunting

Card making was always my creative outlet and when I seriously lost my mojo last year due to personal circumstances and stress I needed another way to relax. I started crocheting in September and have made a few projects - as well as many unfinished projects - ever since, but never showed any of them here on my blog. This morning I finished a granny bunting I made for Sanne in the colors of her room.

SUPPLIES: Yarn: Catania Cotton (no. 106, 113, 172, 226) | Hook: Clover 3.5mm/E

The pattern of the bunting comes from the book Granny Square Crochet. A great book with many inspirational ideas.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Birthday | Make It Monday #69

It's been ages since I played along with one of Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday challenges. This week is a sketch challenge and I love sketches, so I had to play. I decided to work with this sketch as I immediately had an idea in mind when I saw the sketch for the first time.

Here's my take on the sketch. It's a birthday card for my friend Irma. I made my own background paper using Papertrey Ink's Houndstooth stamp set. I love that you can create a houndstooth motif in every color you like.

Supplies: Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Cream) | Patterned paper: October Afternoon (Sidewalks) | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Rosie Posie, Turning a New Leaf, Background Basics: Houndstooth) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo, Simply Chartreuse, Pure Poppy, Raspberry Fizz), Versafine (Vintage Sepia) | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Rosie Posie Die Collection, Turning a New Leaf Die Collection), sewing machine | Adhesive dots: Zva Creative

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

Welcome To The World | Got Sketch #144

A new sketch is up on the Got Sketch? blog today. I made a baby boy card based on Sketch 144. Instead of some baby themed papers or colors I used the Sasparilla collection from October Afternoon. A great collection for masculine cards or other projects.

I cut the baby clothes by hand. I do have the die that matches the stamp set, but.....I couldn't find it anywhere. I'm sure it will show up once I have cleared out my scrap room.

Instead of the flower on the sketch I cut circles from patterned paper and adhered a button.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Kraft), Papertrey Ink (Vintage Cream) | Patterned paper: October Afternoon (Sasparilla) | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Hanging Out, Night Night Moon) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo), Versafine (Onyx Black), A Muse Studio (French Roast) | Button: Papertrey Ink (Spring Rain) | Twine: Cards & Wishes | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Medium Scalloped Border Die, Pinking Shears Border Die, Journal Tabs Die Collection), Martha Stewart (1" circle punch), EK Success (1/2" circle punch), sewing machine | Adhesive dots: Zva Creative

Have a wonderful day!
