June Zva Blog Hop Winners announced

We'd like to congratulate the FIVE June Zva Blog Hop winners! Their names will be found on the following blogs:

Julianne
Benedicte
Windy
Camilla
Jolanda

One winner from each of the 5 blogs will receive a Zva prize package worth $30.00. Congrats winners!

And I can't do a Zva Creative blog post without showcasing some Zva goodies. The gorgeous purple crystal/pearl flourish is from Zva. Actually the flourish is twice as big, but I cut it in half so it fits on the card. I adhered the circle border using Zva adhesive dots. The Lily Bee papers are from the June Kit from My Scrapbook Nook.

Have a wonderful day.

Zva Creative June DT Blog Hop!

Zva Creative and the Design Team welcomes you to join us this month for a blog hop that we feel is always extra special!

As you know, Zva offers so many beautiful color groupings for pearls, flowers and crystals. We want to make sure that they shine bright for you, so each designer was asked to share a creation using a specific color or color combination on their blog hop project.

The Blog Hop begins at Kim Hughes' blog. She will have the complete list of all blogs that are participating in case there is a glitch along the way. If you would like to play along, just follow along the blog path. I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. Be prepared to be inspired along the way. Hidden on FIVE of the blogs is a Zva Creative prize package ...YAY! Winners will be randomly chosen after the hop is over, so it's important to leave a comment on as many blogs as you can along the way.

The Blog Hop starts today, June 27th and runs through midnight US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, June 28th and the 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, June 29th on each of the five winning blogs. The full list will be found on Kim Hughes‘s blog as well. We will do our best to notify each winner, but it's best if you can pop in to all of the blogs once again on Wednesday...plus, you never know what kind of inspirational creation that you may find there. All you need to do is leave a comment on this Zva Blog Hop post...you do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer's blog post to qualify. The more times you leave a comment along the blog hop path though, the more chances you will have to be one of the lucky winners.

On today’s card I used one of Zva’s silk frosty flowers. It’s a gorgeous eye-catcher, isn’t it? And it matches perfectly with the baby pink wrinkled ribbon from my store Cards & Wishes. I adhered a large pearl to the ribbon bow, and I wanted to stick to pink embellishments so I added a soft pink flourish to the card. The Emma's Shoppe papers come from the March Kit from My Scrapbook Nook.

A detailed photo of the gorgeous silk flower that Zva Creative released at CHA Winter earlier this year. The frosty flowers are available in 10 different colors.

And the beautiful soft pink pearl flourish from the Pleasure serie.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Straw) | Patterned paper: Crate Paper (Emma's Shoppe) | Flourish, silk flower, pearl, adhesive dots: Zva Creative (CR04CA133, FL04CA124, CR02CA127, AD01CB101) | Ribbon, doily: Cards & Wishes | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Sending You) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo), Versafine (Vintage Sepia) | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Edgers #1 Die), sewing machine

Thinking of You

Again I have lifted a card by one of the Papertrey Ink DT members. Betsy Veldman is one of my favorite card makers. She is amazingly talented and always come up with great ideas. She has a great eye for mixing colors, stamps and patterned papers. I love this card she made using the 2010 Anniversary Set Botanical Silhouettes. I used it as inspiration for a card I sent to someone special who's been having a real hard time. I kept it a bit more simple, but I wanted to copy the colorful border of poppies.

Supplies: All supplies by Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted Cardstock: Vintage Cream, Bazzill Basics Paper (Kraft) | Clear stamps: 2010 Anniversary Set: Botanical Silhouettes | Ink: Pure Poppy, Orange Zest, Summer Sunrise, Spring Rain, Memento (Pear Tart, Lulu Lavender), Versafine (Onyx Black) | Twine: Rustic Cream Button Twine | Button: Spring Rain

Have a wonderful weekend!

Just a Note

When I saw this card by Nichole Heady I knew I wanted to lift it as soon as I'd received the 2010 anniversary set Botanical Silhouettes. I love the simplicity of the card. Creating the card was not so simple. The stamping was not the problem, but drawing the black lines was causing me a headache. The first time I draw a black line through the flowers on the right, the second time my ruler left black stains on the panel and the third time I finally did it right. I sent this card to the wife of one of my colleagues to wish her well, and a speedy recovery.

Supplies: All supplies by Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted Cardstock: Raspberry Fizz, Vintage Cream | Clear stamps: 2010 Anniversary Set: Botanical Silhouettes | Ink: Raspberry Fizz, Hibiscus Burst, Versafine (Onyx Black), Memento (Bamboo Leaves) | Other: black pen

Have a wonderful day.

Happy Father's Day

I'm quite late posting my Father's Day cards for today. It's already past 11pm and I haven't had time earlier today to post the cards. This morning we visited Eric's dad, and after lunch we went to see my dad. I also had to iron a huge pile of laundry and now I finally have time to write a blog post. Yesterday I went to Paper & Pictures for a High Tea crop with girls from a Dutch forum. I had a wonderful time and it was great to meet the girls IRL. During the crop I worked on three Father's Day cards. I was quite busy this past week and didn't have time to work on the cards, so they had to be done at the very last minute.

The first card is the one I created for Eric. The card contains a coupon to be spent on new Adobe Photoshop CS software for his new camera. He also got a photography magazine, and handmade gifts from the girls.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Straw) | Patterned paper: The Girls' Paperie (On Holiday) | Button: Papertrey Ink (Pure Poppy) | Twine: May Arts | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Just the Ticket, Fillable Frames #4) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo), Ranger Adirondack (Watermelon, Denim) | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Just the Ticket Die, Seeing Stars Collection), Fiskars Uppercrest Border Punch, sewing machine | Adhesive dots: Zva Creative

The second card is for my father-in-law and again I used the On Holiday collection from The Girls' Paperie.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Straw) | Patterned paper: The Girls' Paperie (On Holiday) | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Fillable Frames #4) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo), Ranger Adirondack (Denim), Versafine (Vintage Sepia) | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Fillable Frames #4 Die), Fiskars Uppercrest Border Punch, sewing machine | Adhesive dots: Zva Creative

And the last card is the one I made for my dad using Papertrey Ink's Pacific Vineyard collection. The argyle pattern was stamped with the A Little Argyle set.

Supplies: All supplies by Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted Cardstock: Ripe Avocado, Bazzill Basics Paper (Straw) | Patterned paper: Pacific Vineyard | Button: Royal Velvet | Twine: May Arts | Clear stamps: A Little Argyle, Fillable Frames #1, Fillable Frames #4 | Ink: Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo, Ripe Avocado, Dark Chocolate | Tools: Fillable Frames #1 Die, Fiskars Uppercrest Border Punch, sewing machine | Adhesive dots: Zva Creative

Until next time.

Birthday Cards

Yesterday the youngest child of one of my best friends celebrated his birthday. The card I made him is completely inspired by this card from Nichole Heady. I couldn't copy the strip of stamped numbers since I don't own the stamps. So guess what I ordered this morning along with some of the new release products? Yes....the Alpha-blocks stamp set. I could no longer resist this set.

Supplies: All supplies by Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted Cardstock: Simply Chartreuse, Stamper's Select White | Patterned paper: 2009 Bitty Dot Basics | Clear stamps: Polka Dot Basics, Boy Basics: Simple Circles, Fly Away | Ink: Orange Zest, Summer Sunrise, Hawaiian Shores, Versafine (Onyx Black), ColorBox (Moss Green) | Tools: Fly Away Die, sewing machine | Other: foamtape

The second card is another clean & simple design. This one is for a friend who celebrated her 40th birthday last weekend. I was determined to use the pink/red color combo, but it was quite a struggle to put this card together. I simply couldn't put it all together like I had in mind. The small flourish I stamped on each scallop doesn't really match with the other modern stamps and shapes, but there was no time to change it.

Supplies: All supplies by Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted Cardstock: Pure Poppy, Raspberry Fizz, Stamper's Select White | Patterned paper: By the Numbers | Clear stamps: Background Basics: Retro, Big Birthday Wishes, Mat Stack 2 Collection | Ink: Fresh Snow, Versafine (Onyx Black) | Ribbon: Hibiscus Burst | Tools: Mat Stack 4 Die, By the Numbers Collection | Other: foamtape

Thank you for stopping by, and have a wonderful day.

Happy Birthday

Usually I have to work on Monday, but today is a public holiday so I've been enjoying a long weekend. Yesterday we went to see Kung Fu Panda 2 and we all enjoyed that movie. I also did some scrapping and made another card using the June kit from My Scrapbook Nook. This card is based on my own card sketch posted on the forum today. I designed the sketch to use the wood cut banner from Pink Paislee that is part of the kit, but of course you could also create a banner yourself. I added some felt flowers and soft blue and white pearls to the banner to give the card a more girly look.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (White) | Patterned paper, alphabet stickers: Lily Bee Design (Picket Fence) | Wood cut: Pink Paislee | Pearls, adhesive dots: Zva Creative (CR02CA127, PE02CB102, AD01CB101) | Felt: Felt on the Fly | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Fresh Snow) | Tools: MFT Stamps (Die-namics Flower Trio & Leaves Trio, Die-namics Framed Greetings Die, Die-namics Open Scallop Border), sewing machine

Well, that's all for now. I'm off to make some birthday, get well and baby cards for family and friends. Oh, and I have to finish an assignment too.

Have a wonderful day. Until next time.

My Scrapbook Nook June Kit

Just before we left on our short break the June Kit from My Scrapbook Nook was delivered. Unfortunately I had no time to create anything and when we got back I first had to finish my assignment for Scrapbookmagazine. Today I finally had time to dig into the kit. I created a card that is based on the card sketch I designed for the Nook. If you want to play along with my weekly card sketch challenges register yourself to the forum so you can post your entry in the gallery and in the sketch thread. We love to see fresh faces on the forum. For this card I used Lily Bee Design papers and alphabet stickers from the kit. I also used my new Gingham & Co stamps from Waltzingmouse Stamps. I used the reverse polka dot stamp and heat embossed it with white embossing powder. The coverage on the left isn't perfect, but it doesn't really bother me. I think it adds a kind of distressed look to the card.

And here's a sneak peek of the Nook's June Kit. It's filled with Lily Bee Design's Picket Fence collection. And of course the kit comes with embellishments such as alphabet stickers, flowers, wood cuts, ruffle trim, wooden spools and doilies. You can sign up for a minimum of 3 months, but if you get a year subscription you'll get the 13th kit for FREE.

I plan on making more cards with the kit this weekend. Monday is a public holiday here in the Netherlands, so I have plenty of time to be creative.

Enjoy your weekend!

Got Sketch? 119

I'm a bit late to post my contribution to Sketch 119 from Got Sketch?. The new sketch went up on the blog last Wednesday. We left for a short break that day and I wasn't able to post my take on the sketch. I didn't even have time to pre-schedule my blog post as I had too many other things to do before we left. Anyway, here's my take on Valerie Salmon's sketch. This time I made a cute little gift bag instead of a card. This gift bag - filled with chocolates - was a little gift for one of Fleur's hockey trainers who gave extra training to 6 newbies each Friday afternoon.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Kraft, Straw) | Patterned paper: October Afternoon (5 & Dime) | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Postmarks, Label Basics, Background Basics: Text Style II, Friendship Jar, Friendship Jar Holiday Fillers, 2009 Round & Round Anniversary Set) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Pure Poppy, Smokey Shadow, Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo), Versafine (Onyx Black) | Pearls, adhesive dots: Zva Creative (PE02CB102, AD01CB101) | Twine: May Arts | Buttons: Papertrey Ink (White & Cream Mix, Pure Poppy) | Felt: Papertrey Ink (Pure Poppy) | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Favor It Box 3, Postage Die, Jar Label Die, Angled Labels Die Collection, Flower Fusion #3 die), Making Memories Slot Making Kit, sewing machine | Other: ribbon

As said, we went on a short break the past few days. We stayed with my parents who've been on vacation for a few weeks. The weather was beautiful (except for today) and we spent all days outside. We cycled, went to the beach, did some shopping, had a BBQ and enjoyed each other's company. The girls loved the hammock a lot. They had lots of fun together. Eric took lots of pictures of them, and I'm sure their hammock 'adventures' will end up on a layout. Here's one of my favorite pictures.

Until next time.
