Zva Creative May Blog Hop

Zva Creative and the Design Team welcomes you to join us this month for a blog hop that we feel is always extra special!

As you know, Zva offers so many beautiful color groupings for pearls, flowers and crystals. We want to make sure that they shine bright for you, so each designer was asked to share a creation using a specific color or color combination on their blog hop project.

The Blog Hop begins at Kim Hughes' blog. She will have the complete list of all blogs that are participating in case there is a glitch along the way. If you would like to play along, just follow along the blog path. I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. Be prepared to be inspired along the way. Hidden on FIVE of the blogs is a Zva Creative prize package ...YAY! Winners will be randomly chosen after the hop is over, so it's important to leave a comment on as many blogs as you can along the way.

The Blog Hop starts today, May 30th and runs through midnight US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, May 31st and the 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, June 1st on each of the five winning blogs. The full list will be found on Kim Hughes‘s blog as well. We will do our best to notify each winner, but it's best if you can pop in to all of the blogs once again on Wednesday...plus, you never know what kind of inspirational creation that you may find there. All you need to do is leave a comment on this Zva Blog Hop post...you do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer's blog post to qualify. The more times you leave a comment along the blog hop path though, the more chances you will have to be one of the lucky winners.

For today's card I used BasicGrey's Hello Luscious collection from My Scrapbook Nook's May Kit. The colors of the Leafy Branch (CRS03CB104) from Zva Creative match well with the papers. The alphabet stickers were adhered with adhesive dots. These adhesive dots from Zva are my favorite.

Don't you love the combination of crystals and pearls of the Leafy Branch?

And the gorgeous ribbon flower inspired by Sherri Funk...

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Kraft) | Patterned paper, button, pieces, alphabet stickers, sticker elements: BasicGrey (Hello Luscious) | Leafy Branch Crystal, pearls, adhesive dots: Zva Creative (CRS03CB104, PE02CB102, AD01CB101) | Twine, ribbon: May Arts | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Medium Scalloped Border Die), EK Success 1 3/4" Circle Punch

The blog hop begins here: Kim Hughes.

Your next stop is the amazingly talented Tara Orr.

Thank you SO MUCH for joining us, and have a wonderful day.

PS: I would like to remind you of the three challenges that I've been hosting on my blog. You have until Sunday June 5th to play along. You can find the challenges here, here and here. You also find the links in the sidebar. There are prizes for each challenge, and if you play along with all three challenges you have an extra chance to win a prize pack.

Congratulations

Our weather was beautiful today, and I enjoyed sitting outside reading the latest Creating Keepsakes magazine. I also wrote down some ideas for new kits to be added to my store in June, and draw some card sketches for My Scrapbook Nook. Speaking of sketches, the latest card sketch was posted on the forum last Monday. And here's my take on the sketch using the Nook's May Kit as well as some add-ons. The gorgeous Pink Aster ribbon is available in my store.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Kraft) | Patterned paper, doilies paper, button, sticker elements: BasicGrey (Hello Luscious) | Twine: May Arts | Ribbon: Cards & Wishes | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Enjoy the Ride) | Ink: Versafine (Vintage Sepia), Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo) | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Double-Ended Banners Die), Spellbinders Nestabilties Classic Ovals, EK Success 1 3/4" Circle Punch | Other: foamtape

Well, that's all for now. I'm off to my scraproom to create a card. Hopefully I have better luck this time, because the one I wanted to make this morning ended up in the trash bin.

Until next time.

We are having a special birthday blog hop for our sweet friend Merry over on the Papertrey Ink messageboard.  Merry has been through a lot lately, and we all want to send her a little sunshine on her special day and celebrate this day with her. Here's the card I made in Merry's honor.

Happy Birthday, Merry!! Wishing you the best on your birthday, and every happiness in the year ahead.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (White, Kraft), Papertrey Ink (Stamper's Select White, New Leaf) | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Mat Stack 4 Collection, Turning a New Leaf, Tiny Tags) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Hawaiian Shores, Fresh Snow), Versafine (Onyx Black) | Button: Papertrey Ink (White & Cream Mix) | Felt: Papertrey Ink (Raspberry Fizz) | Twine: May Arts | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Mat Stack 4 Die, Turning a New Leaf Collection, Beautiful Blooms II #1 Die Collection, Small Scalloped Border Die, Tiny Tags, By The Numbers Impression Plate) | Other: foamtape

Weekend Challenge 2

We were up early this morning and left for the airport at 7.10am. Eric left this morning for Ireland where he'll be on a photo trip for almost a week. Sanne was quite sad when we drove back home, but she's been doing fine now.

Are you in for a new challenge? Here's the second one for this weekend.

Have fun creating a card for this challenge. I look forward to seeing your projects.

If you play along with all three challenges you have an extra chance to win a prize pack. I'll randomly pick a winner from the names who participated in all three weekend challenges.

I also have something exciting to share. Eric managed to get me tickets for George Michael. I'm so thrilled!! I was at the dentist when presale started at 10am this morning, so I asked (ehm...ordered) Eric to try to get tickets. I last saw George Michael in November 2006, and he is great! Unfortunately Eric isn't able to go with me as he'll be on a business trip to Las Vegas, but I have a fun date. I'll be going to see George Michael with my friend Loes. We have seats in the arena in row 7, so we are very close to the stage. I'll have to find out if we are allowed to bring our camera.

I'll be back tomorrow with a new challenge. Enjoy your day!

More BasicGrey cards, and Special Nook Deal

Each Monday I post a card sketch on the Nook forum. It's fun to create a card sketch and make a sample card based on my own sketch. The first card is based on the sketch that went up yesterday. You can find all my card sketches in the Cards section on the forum. The BasicGrey papers are part of the Nook's May kit, and the beautiful doilies paper and button were some of the add-ons that I bought along with the kit. The gorgeous sentiment stamp is from Waltzingmouse Stamps' Say it Loud set. I just love that stamp set. I think the sentiments and font are beautiful.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Kraft) | Patterned paper, doilies paper, button: BasicGrey (Hello Luscious) | Twine: May Arts | Felt flower, ribbon: Cards & Wishes | Clear stamps: Waltzingmouse Stamps (Say it Loud) | Ink: Versafine (Vintage Sepia), Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo) | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Mat Stack 4 Die, Beautiful Blooms II #1 Die Collection), sewing machine | Other: lace, foamtape

The second card is based on last week's sketch, and again I used the Hello Luscious collection from BasicGrey and a gorgeous flower from Webster's Pages.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Kraft) | Patterned paper, pieces: BasicGrey (Hello Luscious) | Flower: Webster's Pages (Princess Petals Florettes Trendsetter) | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Sending You) | Ink: Versafine (Vintage Sepia), Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo) | Tools: MFT Stamps (Die-namics Open Scallop Border), Martha Stewart Edge Punch, sewing machine | Other: lace

Would you like to try the kits from My Scrapbook Nook yourself? They now offer a special deal. Sign up for a minimum of 6 months and you will receive the May kit for FREE!! How good is that?

Tell a friend and if they sign up email us at orders@myscrapbooknook.com and give us your friend's name and we will give you a $5.00 store credit. Good only while supplies last.

Have a wonderful day.

Go Wild Virtual Crop at The Nook

From last Thursday till midnight today we've been hosting a Virtual Crop (VC) at the forum of My Scrapbook Nook. The theme is Go Wild and the Design Team came up with 29 challenges during these days. I prepared two card challenges.

The first one is Go Wild - Back to Nature. I challenged the forum members to create a card using neutral colors and/or natural materials. Here's my sample card for the challenge. I created my own patterned paper by stamping doilies on kraft cardstock with white ink. I love the kraft and white color combo. I used a die to cut the burlap frame.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Kraft), Papertrey Ink (Stamper's Select White) | Clear stamps: My Mind's Ey (Stella & Rose Gertie "Girly"), Papertrey Ink (Turning a New Leaf, Asian Fusion) | Pearl, adhesive dots: Zva Creative (CR02CA127, AD01CB101) | Twine: May Arts | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Fresh Snow, Dark Chocolate) | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Mat Stack 1 Die, Limitless Layers: 1 3/4" Circles Collection), sewing machine | Other: burlap, Aleene's Tacky Glue

My second challenge was to Go Wild with Stamps and create a card using at least four different stamps. The Hello Luscious patterned papers from BasicGrey are part of the Nook's May Kit.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Kraft, Straw) | Patterned paper: BasicGrey (Hello Luscious) | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Polka Dots Basics II, Background Basics: Text Style II, Sending You, Blooming Button Bits) | Adhesive dots: Zva Creative (AD01CB101) | Twine: May Arts | Button: Papertrey Ink | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Fresh Snow, Dark Chocolate, Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo) | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Sending You Collection, Beautiful Blooms II #1 Die Collection), sewing machine

The Nook's gallery is already filled with many gorgeous projects based on the challenges and I'm sure more projects will be uploaded in the next few hours.

Until next time.

Guest Post at Scrapbooks Etc. Blog

Some weeks ago Valerie Salmon asked me to contribute to another guest post at the Scrapbooks Etc. blog. The sketch went up at the end of April, but I totally forgot to post my card on my blog. Last Wednesday the sketch went also up on the Got Sketch? blog. My SIL Lisette and Rae Barthel contributed to the guest post too.

Supplies: Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Cream) | Patterned paper: October Afternoon (The Thrift Shop, Modern Homemaker) | Flourish, pearl, adhesive dots: Zva Creative (PEW02CB105, PE02CB101, AD01CB101) | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (2009 Anniversary Set Round & Round) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo), Versafine (Vintage Sepia) | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Butterfly Die, Mat Stack 1 Die, Limitless Layers: 1 3/4" Circles Collection, Large Scalloped Border), We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper, sewing machine

Thank you all so much for the wonderful comments on my Mother's Day cards. I was one of the participants who got an honorable mention.

Have a wonderful day!

Happy Mother's Day

I got surprised this morning by the girls and Eric with breakfast in bed. I also got many handmade gifts from the girls, and a handmade gift from Eric.

I have two Mother's Day cards to share with you today. Earlier this week I visited my friend Char's blog and came across a picture for the new challenge at The Shabby Tea Room. I knew of the existence of The Shabby Tea Room challenge blog, but I've never played along before because I don't consider my style as shabby chic or vintage. However, I don't think you necessarily need to have a shabby chic style to play along, but I guess that's what hold me back from playing along. Anyway, the first card based on challenge #60 is the one I made for my mom.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Straw) | Patterned paper: October Afternoon (The Thrift Shop) | Flourish, pearl: Zva Creative (PES02CB106, AD01CB101) | Button: Papertrey Ink | Twine: May Arts | Ribbon: Cards & Wishes | Pin: Making Memories | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Tiny Tags) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo, Aqua Mist), Versafine (Onyx Black) | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Tiny Tags Dies), MFT Stamps (Die-namics Open Scallop Border), Spellbinders (Nestabilities Hearts), sewing machine | Other: lace, felt heart, burlap, sheet music, Aleene's tacky glue

The second card is for my mother-in-law. Again, I used the same color combination.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Straw) | Patterned paper: October Afternoon (5 & Dime, The Thrift Shop) | Pearls, adhesive dots: Zva Creative (CR02CA127, AD01CB101) | Brad: American Crafts | Twine: May Arts | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Delightful Dahlia) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo), Versafine (Vintage Sepia) | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Parisian Lace Doily Die, Delightful Dahlia Collection, Double-Ended Banners Die), Martha Stewart Edge Punch, Spellbinders (Nestabilities Classic Circles Large), sewing machine | Other: felt heart, burlap, sheet music, Aleene's tacky glue

Thank you for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!

Card Patterns 113

Yesterday I received the May Kit from My Scrapbook Nook. The kit contains BasicGrey's Hello Luscious collection as well as glitter thickers and rose brads from American Crafts, gorgeous flowers from Prima Marketing and ribbon. I must honestly admit I hardly buy BasicGrey collections, because I always have a hard time using the bold prints. Scrapping with papers I wouldn't usually buy takes me out of my comfort zone, and that's what I like about scrapping with a scrapbook kit. Today's card is based on Sketch 113 from Card Patterns.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Straw) | Patterned paper, pieces: BasicGrey (Hello Luscious) | Brad: SEI | Button: Papertrey Ink | Twine: May Arts | Ribbon: Cards & Wishes | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (2009 Anniversary Set Round & Round) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo), Versafine (Onyx Black) | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Parisian Lace Die), sewing machine | Other: foamtape, Aleene's tacky glue

Have a wonderful day!

Sending You Birthday Wishes

Yesterday one of my colleagues celebrated her birthday and I made her a birthday card. I finally gave my Background Basics: Diamonds Impression Plate some love. I purchased this impression plate months ago, but haven't used it every since. I also digged into my Royal Velvet cardstock for the very first time. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has goodies that have never been used before. {wink} I once read the tip to mist your cardstock with water to get a better impression and it works great.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Kraft), Papertrey Ink (Royal Velvet, Simply Chartreuse, Stamper's Select White) | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Beautiful Blooms II, Sending You, Polka Dot Basics, Fillable Frames #1) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Plum Pudding, Fresh Snow), Memento (Pear Tart), Versafine (Onyx Black) | Pearl, adhesive dots: Zva Creative (PE02CB101, AD01CB101) | Twine: Cards & Wishes | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Beautiful Blooms II #1 Die Collection, Background Basics: Diamonds Impression Plate, Medium Scalloped Border Die, Fillable Frames #1 Die)

I've been enjoying a week off work and the weather is beautiful. Have a wonderful day!

Happy Anniversary

I have a card to share today that I made for one of this month's stamping challenges on the Nook forum. This time we had to create a card using doily stamps, and the forum members have to lift one of the DT cards. I used the Stella & Rose Gertie "Girly" Stamps from My Mind's Eye to stamp on patterned paper. The papers, border sticker, lace and flourish are part of the Nook's April Kit.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Straw) | Patterned paper, stickers: Echo Park Paper (For the Record) | Flourish: Prima Marketing | Button: Papertrey Ink (True Black) | Twine: May Arts | Clear stamps: My Mind's Eye (Stella & Rose Gertie "Girly", Papertrey Ink (Mixed Messages) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo), Versafine (Onyx Black) | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Beautiful Blooms II #1 Die Collection), sewing machine | Adhesive dots: Zva Creative (AD01CB101) | Other: lace, tag

Thank you for visiting my blog. Until next time...
