Lid in de Orde van Oranje Nassau

My dad got - what we call - a "lintje" (royal order) this morning. We had to gather at the town hall in Nieuwegein at 9.15am. My mom told him that one of their friends would get a lintje and my dad really had no clue that it was all about him....until he saw us walking from the parking lot to the town hall. He got the order for his volunteer work for over 33 years. He is now Lid in de Orde van Oranje Nassau. Needless to say my dad was surprised and very happy. I'm proud of him!

And impression of the ceremony...

Have a wonderful day!

Zva Creative April DT Blog Hop!

Zva Creative and the Design Team welcomes you to join us this month for a blog hop that we feel is always extra special!

As you know, Zva offers so many beautiful color groupings for pearls, flowers and crystals. We want to make sure that they shine bright for you, so each designer was asked to share a creation using a specific color or color combination on their blog hop project.

The Blog Hop begins at Kim Hughes' blog. She will have the complete list of all blogs that are participating in case there is a glitch along the way. If you would like to play along, just follow along the blog path. I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. Be prepared to be inspired along the way. Hidden on FIVE of the blogs is a Zva Creative prize package ...YAY! Winners will be randomly chosen after the hop is over, so it's important to leave a comment on as many blogs as you can along the way.

The Blog Hop starts today, April 25th and runs through midnight US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, April 26th and the 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, April 27th on each of the five winning blogs. The full list will be found on Kim Hughes‘s blog as well. We will do our best to notify each winner, but it's best if you can pop in to all of the blogs once again on, you never know what kind of inspirational creation that you may find there. All you need to do is leave a comment on this Zva Blog Hop do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer's blog post to qualify. The more times you leave a comment along the blog hop path though, the more chances you will have to be one of the lucky winners.

My color for this month's blog hop is orange. Orange is our national color and with Queen's Day (April 30th) coming up it's the perfect color to use this month. The orange crystal flourish is one of the new designs from the 'Delightful' serie. The small felt flowers and tiny crystals are from Zva Creative too.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Straw) | Patterned paper: Scenic Route (Hampton) | Rub-ons: Melissa Frances | Flourish, felt flowers, crystals: Zva Creative (CRB04CA116, FL01CB115, CR02CB101) | Tools: sewing machine

The blog hop begins here: Kim Hughes

Your next stop on this blog hop is the talented Lisa Johnson.

Thank you SO MUCH for joining us, and have a wonderful day!

Happy Birthday

Twice a month a Member Inspiration challenge is posted on the Nook forum. Either my friend Danni Reid or me pick a card from a forum member for the challenge. It was my turn to pick a card for April 15th, and I chose this card by Erica Hettwer. I really like the button flowers and I was inspired to use flowers and buttons on my card. The card design was another thing that inspired me although I didn't create an exact copy. The Emma's Shoppe papers are from the Nook's March kit. The card is up for sale in my store.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Straw) | Patterned paper: Crate Paper (Emma's Shoppe) | Buttons: Papertrey Ink (Sweet Blush) | Twine: May Arts | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Flower Fusion #1, Enjoy the Ride) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo), Versafine (Vintage Sepia), Memento (Pear Tart) | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Flower Fusion #1 Die, Medium Scalloped Border Die), sewing machine | Adhesive dots: Zva Creative

You have until midnight today to leave a comment on this post for the 4heures37 give away.

Have a happy Easter weekend.

Birthday Cards, and a Little Give Away

Last week I received my DT box with the new collection 18, square des 3 petits cailloux rouges from 4heures37. The collection is great, and I especially love the colors of the boys' part of this collection.

Here's a masculine card based on Sketch 214 from CPS. The small light blue strip with green stars is not part of the collection. It's just one of those strips that you find at the bottom of a patterned paper sheet. The back of the strip has this great design.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Kraft) | Patterned paper: 4heures37 (18, square des 3 petits cailloux rouges) | Buttons: Papertrey Ink (Ripe Avocado) | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Say It With Style) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Ripe Avocado) | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Seeing Stars) | Other: foamtape, staples

I also created a card with the girly patterned papers. The beautiful pearl flourish is from Zva Creative.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Straw) | Patterned paper: 4heures37 (18, square des 3 petits cailloux rouges) | Rub-ons: Melissa Frances | Button: Autumn Leaves | Twine: May Arts | Ribbon: Cards & Wishes | Pearl flourish, felt flower: Zva Creative (PE02CB130, FL01CB115) | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Edgers #1 Collection, Beautiful Blooms II #1 Die Collection), sewing machine | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo)

What do you think of this collection? Would you like to play with these papers too?  I made two card kits containing a 6x6" sheet of each design, so that's 12 sheets in total. I'll add some embellishments too. I'll give away one set to someone in the Netherlands and the other set to one of my international blog readers. All you have to do is to leave a comment on this thread no later than Midnight on Saturday April 23rd. I'll announce the winners on Sunday April 24th.

Until next time.

40 and Fabulous!

Last Friday one of my friends celebrated her 40th birthday and we were invited to her disco party on Saturday night. I couldn't resist using my Papertrey Ink By The Numbers Collection for the big 4-0. The papers are some of my favorite designs from October Afternoon's Cherry Hill collection. I just love this color combination.

Supplies: Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Cream, Simply Chartreuse) | Patterned paper: October Afternoon (Cherry Hill) | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Polka Dot Basics, Big Birthday Wishes) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Smokey Shadow), Versafine (Onyx Black) | Twine: Cards & Wishes | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Mat Stack 4 Die, By The Numbers Collection, Eyelet Lace Border Die, Medium Scalloped Border Die) | Other: foamtape,

The card is based on a sketch I designed for My Scrapbook Nook. If you're looking for inspiration the Nook forum is the place to be. We host various challenges for cards and layouts each month. And of course we also chat about scrapbooking, card making and everything else.

Have a wonderful day!

Happy Birthday

I was quite busy this week and hardly had time to create cards or anything else. Today my uncle is celebrating his birthday, so I had to mail a card yesterday to make sure it arrives today. I didn't have any masculine cards in my stash and didn't have much time to create one either. Yesterday afternoon I sat down for a few minutes and created this clean & simple card.

Supplies: All supplies by Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted Cardstock: Rustic White, Bazzill Basics Paper (Kraft) | Clear stamps: A Little Argyle, Enjoy the Ride, Banner Builder | Ink: Enchanted Evening, Memento (Summer Sky), Versafine (Onyx Black) | Tools: Enjoy the Ride Die | Other: foamtape,

Have a wonderful day!

Last year Sanne went to the IJVO for the very first time. The IJVO is always being held in the last week of the summer break. It's a kids camp in our city where kids (grade 3 - 8 ) build and paint their own fort (their 'home' for the week), do crafts and all kinds of other fun activities. Sanne was very enthusiastic about it and enjoyed every minute. As soon as the IJVO was over she told me she wanted to go again next year. Fleur has never been to the IJVO, but last year she said she wanted to go too. Last month Sanne and Fleur registered themselves along with their group of friends and today they would hear if they got a ticket. Places for the IJVO are drawn by lot. 1,992 kids registered themselves for this year's camp and only 1,700 kids can participate. Fortunately my girls and all their friends got a ticket. Needless to say, the girls are excited.

During last year's IJVO one of the volunteers took this photo of Sanne. I love this photo because the smile on her face represents her feeling during that week. She was worn out at the end of the week, but she loved it and had a blast. I wanted to scrap this photo and used Cosmo Cricket's Togetherness collection which I received at the time of the IJVO last year. This page was published in the Scrapbookmagazine early September last year. The design is based on a template from Sweet Shoppe Designs, but I don't recall the one I used.

Thanks for your visit.

Last Wednesday my April kit from My Scrapbook Nook was delivered. I hadn't expected the kit yet, so it was a pleasant surprise. Yesterday morning when the girls were in school I made some cards with the new kit. I can't show all cards yet as some of the cards are for challenges that will be posted on the Nook's forum later this month. I created this card for my friend Danni Reid's challenge. Danni challenged us to create your own patterned paper using doily stamps. I used the My Mind's Eye doily stamps that were one of the add-on products in March. I stamped doilies in several sizes on the printed paper. I also cut a scalloped border and stamped one of the smaller doilies on each scallop.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Sawdust) | Patterned paper, stickers: Echo Park Paper (For The Record) | Chipboard: Maya Road | Button: Buttons Galore & More | Twine: May Arts | Clear stamps: My Mind's Eye | Ink: Versafine (Vintage Sepia), ColorBox, Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo) | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Large Scalloped Border Die, Eyelet Lace Border Die, Edgers #1 Die), sewing machine | Other: foamtape,

And here's a sneak peek of the Nook's April kit filled with Echo Park Paper's For The Record collection, ribbon, Maya Road chipboard, Petaloo flowers and Prima Marketing crystals.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Goodbye to Jillibean Soup

Last Friday the new Jillibean Soup Design Team was announced. What a great team! I'm sure the new team and guest designers will rock the Jillibean Soup goodies. I didn't reapply this time. I've been on the team for two years and it's been an amazing experience, but it's time for me to move on. I would like to thank Jill and Kimber for the wonderful time. Today I share some projects that were posted on the Jillibean Soup blog last month.

Here's a layout that was also pubbed in the Dutch Scrapbookmagazine. The little girl in the photo is me at the age of 3. Yes......that was ages ago. The photo was taken in 1971 (or early 1972) for a magazine about children's clothing.

And two spring cards. One with the latest Blossom Soup collection.....

.....and the other using Old World Cabbage Stew which is still one of my favorite collections.

Thank you for stopping by, and have a wonderful day!

Get Well

Monday is the day that I post a weekly sketch on the My Scrapbook Nook forum. The card sketches are designed by me, and I also make a sample card based on the sketch. For today's card I used Emma's Shoppe from the gorgeous March kit. I just can't get enough of the pretty papers.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Straw) | Patterned paper, button, stickers, chipboard: Crate Paper (Emma's Shoppe) | Twine: May Arts | Tools: MFT Stamps (Die-namics Oval Chain Border), sewing machine | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo)

The My Scrapbook Nook forum has recently moved, and has a new look too. If you're interested in getting to know the Nook girls, looking for inspiration or would like to know what today's sketch is like.....hop on over to the forum and register yourself. It's a great place to hang around with girls from all over the world.

Until next time....
