Thinking of You

It's been a month ago since my last blog post. I think it's the first time since I started blogging almost 5 years ago that I've taken a break for so long. I used to create cards almost every day, but I've been lacking inspiration ever since we got back from our summer holiday. I simply couldn't get anything on paper. A creative block like this has never happened to me before. I lost my mojo in the past but never as bad as this time. A low energy level wasn't really helping me either. In order to gain inspiration and pleasure in creating again I decided to give up my DT position at 4heures37, not to reapply for the new term at My Scrapbook Nook and I've taken a temporary break from my magazine work. No deadlines, no stress....and hopefully that will help me to get back in the mood for card making. At first I didn't really miss it, but now - after several weeks - I would like to use my papers, stamps, ink and tools again. I think that's a good sign.

Yesterday I created a sympathy card for a colleague whose father passed away earlier this week. Not the easiest occasion to make a card for, but I enjoyed the creative process again.

A close up of the linen impression...

I love to layer different die-cuts using foam adhesive dots to create more depth...

All supplies by Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted Supplies: Cardstock: Smokey Shadow, Soft Stone, Stamper's Select White | Clear stamps: Modern Wood Mats, Simple Sunflower, Asian Fusion | Ink: Versafine (Onyx Black), A Muse Studio (Slate) | Adhesive dots: Zva Creative | Tools: Linen & Canvas Impression Plate, Mat Stack 5 Die, Doily Details, Photo Finish Strips

Although I haven't created any cards lately I was creative in an other way. I created new mini kits for my store Cards & Wishes. The first one is a small kit called Sweetest Christmas...

The other Christmas kit is called 'Tis the Season. This kit in traditional red and green is my favorite kit of all kits. I just love all the elements in this kit.

The first sets of both kits sold out real quickly, so I made a few extra kits. I really enjoy composing these mini kits, and it's great to see that they are so well received.

Well, that's all for now. I hope to be back with a new card soon.

  1. Hoi Ingrid,
    Prettig weekend, groetjes, Martine

  2. Lovely card. I agree that sympathy cards are hard to create. I like to add bling to my cards and one doesn't put bling on a sympathy card.
Love those kits you are selling. Neat packaging too.
Hope to see more of your creations since your MOJO seems to be returning.

  6. Hi Ingrid

    succes.

    groetjes de twins.

  9. well, I am going to be boring and reply in English, because that is my only language. This is a beautiful card, and I would say that your Mojo is back! I couldn't tell if it was all grey tones or if you had done some really sophisticated photography! I love the look, and also love all your die cute layers.

  11. Beautiful sympathy card. Sorry that there was an occassion that called for one though. Not one mojo issue evident here, that is for sure. I love the kits you've put together too. Almost too lovely to use. ;-) So very well done.
