Zva Creative November DT Blog Hop

We have a NEW Zva Creative Design Team and we welcome you to join us this month for a blog hop that we feel is extra special!

There is now an added twist to our blog hops, YAY! As you know, Zva offers so many beautiful color groupings for pearls, flowers and crystals. We want to make sure that they shine bright for you, so each designer was asked to share a creation using a specific color or color combination on their blog hop project. We anticipate that our hops will become even more breathtaking with such stunning products to showcase by concentrating on color.

The Blog Hop begins at Kim Hughes' blog. She will have the complete list of all blogs that are participating in case there is a glitch along the way. If you would like to play along, just follow along the blog path. I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. Be prepared to be inspired along the way. Hidden on FIVE of the blogs is a Zva Creative prize package ...YAY! Winners will be randomly chosen after the hop is over, so it's important to leave a comment on as many blogs as you can along the way.

The Blog Hop starts today, November 29th and runs through midnight US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, November 30th and the 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, December 1st on each of the five winning blogs. The full list will be found on Kim Hughes‘s blog as well. We will do our best to notify each winner, but it's best if you can pop in to all of the blogs once again on Wednesday...plus, you never know what kind of inspirational creation that you may find there. All you need to do is leave a comment on this Zva Blog Hop post...you do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer's blog post to qualify. The more times you leave a comment along the blog hop path though, the more chances you will have to be one of the lucky winners.

My specific color for this blog hop project is (rosy) pink. This card features the Pink & Rosy Corner Floral Crystal (CRS03CA106). The card is meant for someone who's been having a hard time. I hope it will cheer her up a little.

Tis the Season

Yesterday we had snow. Yikes! It's only November and I'm not in the mood for snow yet. I hope we don't get as much snow this year as we did last year.

I'll be sharing some Christmas cards this week that are part of the custom order. The request for one of the cards was to use Stocking Prints. I always love to view the gallery at the Papertrey Ink forum to see what cards the DT made with a certain set. When I saw Betsy Veldman's card featuring the Stocking Prints set I decided to CASE her card. I am a huge fan of Betsy Veldman. I love her style. I don't have the branch that she used so I used another stamp instead.

Supplies: All supplies by Papertrey Ink unless noted otherwise Cardstock: Vintage Cream, Pure Poppy | Clear stamps: Beyond Basics Borders, Snowflake Serenade, Stocking Prints, Wreath for All Seasons | Ink: Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo, Pure Poppy, ColorBox (Antique Pewter), Versafine (Onyx Black) | Tools: Stocking Prints Die, Small Scalloped Border Die, sewing machine | Foam dots: Zva Creative (AD01CB101)

The Zva Creative DT is having their monthly blog hop tomorrow, so be sure to check in here. Have a happy Sunday!

Wishing You Peace

This morning I went out to do some shopping for Sinterklaas. We'll celebrate it with my family and Eric's mom on December 4th. The girls don't really have a long wish list this year, but they both do have a few 'must haves' on their list and I managed to buy what they want so badly.

Today's card is another card that is part of a custom order. The requested color combo for this card was the traditional red and green, and the Peace sentiment from one of my Papertrey Ink stamp sets. Wishing you is not really stamped straight, but since it was the last thing I added to this card I decided to leave it this way. There is no way to fix it, and I didn't want to start all over again. It's handmade, and it can't always be perfect.

Supplies: All supplies by Papertrey Ink unless noted otherwise Cardstock: Vintage Cream, Pure Poppy | Patterned paper: Distressed Dots | Clear stamps: Friendship Jar Holiday Fillers, Snowflake Serenade | Ink: Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo, Ripe Avocado, Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Old Paper), Versafine (Vintage Sepia) | Crystals: Hotfix | Tools: Small Scalloped Border Die, sewing machine

Have a wonderful weekend!

Papertrey Ink November Blog Hop Challenge

It's been a while since I played along with Papertrey Ink's Blog Hop Challenge. It was only last night that I decided to play along, so it's a very last minute project. That seems to be my way of working. {wink} This month's challenge is to design a holiday tag using your favorite goodies. I was about to create a set of tags, but time was limited so I ended up with one tag. I am a huge fan of Papertrey Ink dies, so I used several of them for this tag. Inspired by a card from Betsy Veldman that I lifted the other day - I'll show that one later this week - I am into snowflakes at the moment. They are great to use for a background. Here's my tag for the November Blog Hop Challenge.....

Supplies: All supplies by Papertrey Ink unless noted otherwise Cardstock: Vintage Cream, Pure Poppy | Clear stamps: 2010 Holiday Tags, Snowflake Serenade, Peace Be Still | Ink: Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo, ColorBox (Smokey Blue, Antique Pewter) | Buttons: Blueberry Sky, White & Cream Mix | Ribbon: Blueberry Sky | Twine: May Arts | Glitter: Craft Glitter | Tools: Tag Sale 2 Die, Peace Be Still Collection, Limitless Layers 1 3/4" Circle Collection, Cuttlebug Ice Crystal | Other: foam tape

Thank you for stopping by.

Happy Anniversary

I called in sick yesterday as I was having a stomach flu. I am feeling a bit better today. Fortunately it's my day off so I can take it easy.

Last week I was asked by a friend to make a card for her best friend's 30th wedding anniversary. I went for grey with a touch of pink and added a gorgeous soft pink pearl flourish from Zva Creative.

Supplies: All supplies by Papertrey Ink unless noted otherwise Cardstock: Smokey Shadow, Sweet Blush, Rustic White | Patterned paper: 2009 Bitty Dot Basics | Clear stamps: Damask Designs, Fillable Frames #7, Outline Alphabet, Mega Mixed Messages | Ink: Sweet Blush, Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo, Versafine (Onyx Black), ColorBox (Antique Pewter) | Button: White & Cream Mix | Ribbon: my store | Twine: May Arts | Pearl flourish, foam dots: Zva Creative (PE03CA111, AD01CB101) | Tools: Vintage Lace Border Die, Fillable Frames #7 Die

Have you already finished all your Christmas cards? I have to finish two custom card orders this week, and then I have a few Christmas cards to make that I can send to friends.

Have a nice day!

Exciting News!

I've got some exciting news to share with you today. About two weeks ago I received an e-mail from Emma from the French scrapbooking brand 4heures37 inviting me to join her design team. I came across 4heures37 for the first time about 4 months ago. I visited a blog of a French scrapbooker - don't remember whose blog it was - and really liked the designs from 4heures37. As far as I know the paper collections are not available in the Netherlands yet, but hopefully that will change soon. Last Friday I received a box with papers and other goodies from Emma and I couldn't wait to get started on a few cards. My main focus will be cards, but I may also show a layout every now and then.

The first card is my favorite of the three cards I made this weekend. For this card I used the 9, Allée des ateliers collection. 12 sheets per collection and all sheets are double sided so that means 24 (!) different designs. I always love to mix various designs on one card. I really have a hard time using only one or two patterned paper sheets. The doily used on the card is from Martha Stewart and is available at Paper & Pictures.

And a close-up...

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Straw) | Patterned paper: 4heures37 (9, Allée des ateliers) | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Asian Fusion) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo), Versafine (Vintage Sepia) | Button: Papertrey Ink (Simply Chartreuse) | Ribbon, twine: May Arts | Doily: Martha Stewart | Tools: Papertrey Ink Limitless Layers: 1 3/4" Circle Collection, EK Success Bracket Border Punch, sewing machine | Foam dots: Zva Creative (AD01CB101)

And another card with the 9, Allée des ateliers collection. I really love this collection. The papers on this card match really well with Papertrey Ink's Scarlet Jewel color. I always have a hard time using that color, but not this time.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Straw) | Patterned paper: 4heures37 (9, Allée des ateliers) | Clear stamps: Waltzingmouse Stamps (Fancy Phrases) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo, Scarlet Jewel) | Buttons: Papertrey Ink (Scarlet Jewel) | Twine: May Arts | Tools: Papertrey Ink Eyelet Lace Border Die, Spellbinders Shapeabilities Fancy Tags, sewing machine | Foam dots: Zva Creative (AD01CB101)

For the last card I used the newest collection 1, passage Philéas. This collection was released early November. It's not only great for travel layouts and albums, but also for masculine cards.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Straw) | Patterned paper: 4heures37 (1, passage Philéas ) | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Birthday Bash Sentiments, Star Prints) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo, Enchanted Evening, Spring Rain, Spring Moss) | Tools: Papertrey Ink Mat Stack 1 Die, Seeing Stars Collection, Martha Stewart Zigzag Edge Punch | Foam dots: Zva Creative (AD01CB101)

For more inspiration you can visit the 4heures37 blog.

Have a fabulous day! Until next time...

Happy (7th) Birthday

Today our sweet niece Renee is celebrating her 7th birthday. As soon as we get back home from the girls' hockey game and training we will call her on Skype to congratulate her. I hope that my card made it in time for her birthday. It's always a bit hard to tell how long it takes a card to get to Australia.

Supplies: Cardstock: Action (White card base) | Patterned paper, element stickers: Echo Park Paper (A Walk in the Park) | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Birthday Bash Sentiments, Fillable Frames #4, Outlines Alphabet) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Raspberry Fizz, Spring Moss), Versafine (Vintage Sepia) | Button: Papertrey Ink (White & Cream Mix) | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Fillable Frames #4 Die) | Other: foamtape

Until next time!

Merry Christmas Part II

Today I have another Christmas card to show you that is part of a custom card order. The initial request was to create a card in non-traditional Christmas colors and to use the Holly & Ivy stamp from the Holiday Button Bits stamp set, but these two criteria don't really go together since the leaves are supposed to be green and the berries red. Of course I could have stamped the Holly & Ivy in another color, but I talked to V. and we agreed to go for the traditional red and green color combo and add some sparkling glitter.

Last Friday I went to the Kreadoe craft fair with my mom and one of her friends where I bought glitter in various colors at Craft Glitter. I also got their Punch and Stick double sided adhesive sheets. You just cut or punch a shape or strip - like I did on this card - and sprinkle it with glitter.

Supplies: All supplies by Papertrey Ink unless noted otherwise Cardstock: Rustic White, Pure Poppy, Bazzill Basics Paper (Kraft) | Patterned paper: Distressed Dots | Clear stamps: Holiday Button Bits, Mixed Messages | Ink: Ripe Avocado, Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo, Versafine (Vintage Sepia) | Buttons: Pure Poppy, White & Cream Mix | Ribbon: Pure Poppy | Twine: May Arts | Tools: Small Scalloped Border Die, sewing machine | Glitter, adhesive sheets: Craft Glitter | Other: tag

Have a good weekend!

Merry Christmas

Eric - with a little help from the girls - has been designing and creating our Christmas cards this year, so that saves me a lot of time. Time that I can spend on making custom cards orders and today's card is one of them. This card is inspired by the first card in this post by Nichole Heady. I just loved the design and color combo when I first saw that card. Nichole is amazing, and I am a huge fan of her work and stamp designs.

Supplies: All supplies by Papertrey Ink unless noted otherwise Cardstock: Stamper's Select White, Pure Poppy, Bazzill Basics Paper (Kraft) | Clear stamps: Polka Dot Basics, Star Prints, Fillable Frames #9, Tiny Treats: Christmas, Holiday Button Bits | Ink: Fresh Snow, Pure Poppy, Versafine (Onyx Black) | | Ribbon: Pure Poppy | Twine: May Arts, my store | Tools: Fillable Frames #9 Die, Copic Marker Red | Other: foamtape

I've been busy working on a new webstore as my current webstore is way too slow and there isn't much I can do about the slowness. So I now have a new one that I've been busy filling with all my products. Hopefully I'll be able to open the store somewhere next week.

Have a wonderful day, and thank you for stopping by.

A Gift Bag, and a 10% Discount Offer

I've been working on my assignment for Cards Only and haven't had time to create anything new, so I'll leave you with a gift bag that I made about two weeks ago. For some reason I haven't posted it on my blog yet. I kept this one quite simple. You can create this bag in only a few minutes. I'll be making Christmas treat bags for the girls' teachers this year, and it's very likely that I'll use this Favor It bag.

Supplies: All supplies by Papertrey Ink unless noted otherwise Cardstock: Stamper's Select White, Pure Poppy | Patterned paper: Christmas Prints | Clear stamps: 2010 Holiday Tags | Ink: Ripe Avocado, Versafine (Onyx Black) | Tools: Favor It Box 2, Limitless Layers: 1 3/4" Circle Collection, EK Success 1 3/4" Circle punch, Copic Marker Red | Other: foamtape

I'll be celebrating my birthday tomorrow, and thought it would be nice to treat you on a 10% discount on all items in my shop this weekend. And if your order ends with an '0' you'll get an additional 5% discount. Here are the deets:

  • Use the discount code BIRTHDAY in the Comment field

  • The discount is valid on November 13 - 14, 2010

  • The discount does not apply to shipping cost and previous orders

  • Each order ending with an '0' (e.g. #10, #20...) will receive an additional 5% discount.

If any problems occur during the order process please e-mail me.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Birthday

This week's CR84FN3 challenge at Mona Pendleton's blog is a great one. I really like the pink and green color combo.

The flowers in the picture inspired me to use a flower on my card, so I inked up the largest flower of my Year of Flowers: Violets stamp set. Here's my take on the challenge....

Supplies: All supplies by Papertrey Ink unless noted otherwise Cardstock: Spring Moss, Sweet Blush, Rustic White | Patterned paper: 2008 Bitty Dot Basics, 2009 Bitty Dot Basics | Clear stamps: Background Basics: Text Style II, A Little Argyle, Year of Flowers: Violets, Communique Curves Sentiments | Ink: Sweet Blush, Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo, Versafine (Vintage Sepia) | Pearl, foam dots: Zva Creative | Wrinkle ribbon: Rose Tea @ my store | Tools: Victorian Lace Border Die, Tag Sale 2 Die, sewing machine

Until next time!

Birthday Wishes

A few days before we left for London I mailed out a custom card order. The day after we got back I found a mail from J in my inbox telling me that that she hadn't received the cards. Usually it takes only one or two days to have post delivered and now it was more than a week, so I was afraid the envelope with 7 cards got lost in the mail. My return address was on the envelope, but until today none of us has received the envelope, so I have to replace all cards. Of course I don't mind making new cards, but it's a pity that I can't trust our national postal service. Here's one of the new birthday cards that I made.

Supplies: Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Cream) | Patterned paper: October Afternoon (The Thrift Shop, Fly a Kite) | Clear stamps: Waltzingmous Stamps (Fancy Phrases) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Aqua Mist, Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo), Versafine (Onyx Black) | Wrinkle ribbon: my store |  Tools: Papertrey Ink Victorian Lace Border, sewing machine

I got several requests about my wrinkle ribbon lately. The last time all ribbon sold out pretty quickly. I've added 13 colors to my store this morning.

You can find all wrinkle ribbon here. I still haven't been able to do something about the slowness of my store, so again I apologize for it. If any problems occur during the order process please e-mail me.

Have a Happy Sunday!

Happy Holidays

Mona Pendleton has started a color challenge. If you aren't familiar with Mona's work you should really check out her blog Cupcake's Creations. I just love her style and eye for detail. I missed the first color challenge, but I'm just in time for the second challenge. I lost my mojo a bit and hardly created anything this week, but the mojo's getting back. A good challenge always helps me to get in the mood again. Here's this week's challenge CR84FN2.....

I really like this week's photos and colors. It's the photo on the left that inspired me to use my Vintage Ornaments stamps and dies.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Kraft) | Patterned paper: October Afternoon | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Peace Be Still, Vintage Ornaments, Background Basics: Christmas, Signature Christmas) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Smokey Shadow, Aqua Mist, Ocean Tides, Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo), Versafine (Onyx Black) | Twine: May Arts | Pearls, foam dots: Zva Creative | Buttons: Papertrey Ink (Ocean Tides) | Tools: Vintage Ornaments Die Collection, sewing machine

Have a wonderful weekend.

Happy Winter

Today I have a winter themed card to share with you. Winter is my least favorite season. I am not too fond of snow, and I think that January and February are the most boring months of the year. However, the cold days are perfect to stay inside and do crafts. The felt skates on this card are some of the new felt embellishments that I added to my store. The skates are available in ecru, soft pink and light turquoise.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Sawdust) | Patterned paper: October Afternoon | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Peace Be Still, On Ice) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Smokey Shadow, Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo), Versafine (Onyx Black) | Felt embellishments: Schaatsen Ecru | Pearl: Zva Creative | Ribbon: Crinkle Ribbon Vintage Pink | Tools: sewing machine, We R Memory Keepers Crop-A-Dile | Eyelet: We R Memory Keepers

I've also added felt winter embellishments. The sets contain snowflakes and a dove. You can find all felt embellishments here.

Well, that's all for today. I am about to leave for lunch with a friend in Amsterdam. Have a nice day!
