Teacher Gift, and Zva Blog Hop Winners announced

Tomorrow is the last day in school, and then the girls will have a 6 week summer break. I planned on making teacher's gifts, but as usual it is a last minute job. I was about to make something today, but fortunately Sanne reminded me yesterday afternoon that today is the last time she'll see her teacher Kim as Kim doesn't work on Thursday. Luckily I picked up the girls early yesterday afternoon so we still had time to go into town and buy some chocolate. I altered the box with petit fours, and made a favor topper for the favor bag that holds some chocolates. I'll make the same gifts for Sanne's other teacher, and Fleur's teacher.

Supplies: Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (Rustic Cream) | Patterned paper: Making Memories | Stamps: Papertrey Ink (Giga Guide Lines) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Hibiscus Burst), Versafine (Vintage Sepia) | Button: Buttons Galore & More | Twine: May Arts @ Beebiebelle | Tools: Papertrey Ink Beautiful Blooms II #1 Die Collection, Fillable Frames #1 Die, Stampin'Up! Ticket Corner punch

I also made a clean & simple card for Sanne to write a little note to her teacher.

Supplies: Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (Rustic Cream) | Stamps: Papertrey Ink (Year of Flowers: Violets) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Hibiscus Burst), Versafine (Vintage Sepia) | Foam dots: Zva Creative

Zva Creative Blog Hop

Are you ready to be inspired?

As you may know, I am a proud design team member for Zva Creative. We are joining together today to share a project that we have created using some of our favorite Zva Creative products. I am hoping that you will take some time to join us for a little bit of fun!

The Blog Hop begins at Kim Hughes' blog: She will have the complete list of all blogs that are participating in case there is a glitch along the way. If you would like to play along, I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. There are 19 design team members, so be prepared to be inspired along the way. Hidden on 5 of the blogs is a Zva Creative prize package ...YAY! Those blogs will be randomly chosen after the hop is over, so it's important to leave a comment on as many blogs as you can along the way.

This Blog Hop runs through midnight US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, June 29th and the 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, June 30th on each of the winning blogs and the full list will be found on Kim Hughes‘s blog. We will do our best to notify each winner, but it's best if you can pop in to all of the blogs once again on, you never know what kind of inspirational creation that you may find there. All you need to do is leave a comment on this Zva Blog Hop do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer's blog post to qualify. The more times you leave a comment along the blog hop path though, the more chances you will have to be one of the lucky winners.

Here's my card for this blog hop. The black flourishes are one of my favorites at the moment, because the black really stands out. The scrumptious ribbon is available at my friend Linda's store. I love to mix black, white/cream and red.

Supplies: Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Cream, Pure Poppy), Bazzill Basics Paper (Raven) | Stamps: Papertrey Ink (Background Basics: Hearts, Giga Guide Lines) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Cream), Versafine (Onyx Black) | Flourish: Zva Creative (CR02CA115) | Ribbon, twine: May Arts @ Beebiebelle | Buttons: Buttons Galore & More Tools: Martha Stewart Valentine Lace Edge Punch, Papertrey Ink Eyelet Lace Border Die, sewing machine

Please hop on over to see Angelica Franssen. Angelica always creates gorgeous layouts using Zva products.

Thank you SO MUCH for joining us and have a wonderful day.

Twisted Sketches 013

Hello! Finally I have a new card to show you. I finished my assignments for Jillibean Soup and work for Scrapbookmagazine this week, so I have time again to spend on making cards. Our weather is very beautiful and warm at the moment, but the temperature in our basement is really comfortable and that is where my creative space is. Today's card is my take on the new Sketch 013 from Twisted Sketches. This week's twist is flourish. Being a member of the Zva Creative DT I just had to use one for their gorgeous crystal flourishes. I really love all crystal and pearl flourishes from Zva Creative. There are so many wonderful designs and colors available. This pink flourish goes really well with the Twitterpated collection from Pebbles Inc.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper | Patterned paper, chipboard: Pebbles Inc. | Crystal flourish: Zva Creative (CR03CA108) | Stamps: Papertrey Ink (Mega Mixed Messages) | Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black | Tools: EK Success Arch Scallop border punch, Papertrey Ink Delightful Dahlia Dies, sewing machine | foam dots: Zva Creative (AD01CB101)

If you love Zva Creative as much as I do make sure that you visit my blog again on Monday June 28th.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Father's Day

Today I have three Father's Day cards to show you. I still haven't found my mojo so they all are clean & simple again.

The first one is for Eric. The sentiment is hard to read, but it looks better in real life. The background is stamped with one of the stamps from Waltzingmouse Stamps' Pic-Nic Patterns set. All other goodies are from Papertrey Ink. Hawaiian Shores is my favorite color at the moment.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (kraft) | Patterned paper: Papertrey Ink (Dotty Biscotti) | Stamps: Papertrey Ink (Fillable Frames #4), Waltzingmouse Stamps (Pic-Nic Patterns) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Hawaiian Shores), Memento (Desert Sand) | Buttons: Hawaiian Shores | Twine: May Arts | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Fillable Frames #4 Die | Other: foamtape

The second card is the one I made for my father-in-law. Again I used one of the stamps from Pic-Nic Patterns to create a background. I like to combine kraft and enchanted evening for masculine cards. I am not completely satisfied about this card, but can't have it all.

Supplies: Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (Enchanted Evening), Bazzill Basics Paper (kraft) | Stamps: Waltzingmouse Stamps (Pic-Nic Patterns), Papertrey Ink (Fillable Frames #1, Outlines Alphabet) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Enchanted Evening) | Button: Papertrey Ink (Cream & White Mix) | Twine: May Arts | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Fillable Frames #1 Die, Eyelet Lace Border Die), Stampin'Up! Ticker Corner Punch

The last card is the one for my dad. The design is based on sketch Ninety-Four from Clean & Simple Stamping. The card is also inspired by my own challenge #11 at Papertrey Pals. The challenge is to use red, white and blue and star(s). I did the masking technique to stamp the distressed striped border.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (red, kraft) | Stamps: Papertrey Ink (Distressed Stripes, Star Prints, Fillable Frames #4) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Enchanted Evening, Pure Poppy, Fresh Snow)

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Mr. & Mrs.

I don't know what it is but I've been lacking inspiration at the moment. The hours spent in my scrap room this week were mostly spent on thinking of what stamps and colors combos to use. I hardly created anything. And when I did create something it was not to my satisfaction. Whenever I am in need for inspiration I check challenge blogs and one that I like a lot is A Passion for Papertrey.  It's been a while since I played along with Aimes and Kate. The current challenge is to create a one layer card which was a perfect challenge for a wedding card I had to make. My friend Linda asked me to make a clean & simple wedding card. I cheated a bit on the challenge as it is not really a one layer card, but since I haven't used any embellishments and only used stamps I think this card will do for the challenge. The card is pretty clean & simple, but I can tell you it took me quite some time to finish it. After three attempts I almost gave up on the stamping. The first time I stamped the frame it was not fully covered. The second time the stamped frame was damaged when I removed the post-it note to create a space for the sentiment. The third time I dropped my clear block on the white cardstock which left a black spot. Fortunately the fourth attempt went well.

Supplies: Cardstock: Core'dinations ColorCore, Papertrey Ink (Stamper's Select White) | Stamps: Big & Bold Wishes, Take Note, Heart Prints | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Raspberry Fizz), Versafine (Onyx Black)

Take care, and until next time.

First Publication in Paper Crafts

When I got home today I found the July/August issue of Paper Crafts magazine in the mail. I knew my With Sympathy card would be in this issue, so I immediately opened the packaging and found my card on page 56. Back in January I was thrilled to receive an email telling me that my card was accepted, but I am even more thrilled to see my card in print now.

My name among the other BIG names in the magazine...

And the original card as posted in January. The gorgeous flowers, brads and pearl flourishes are from Zva Creative.

I haven't made any cards in the past few days. We spent the weekend in Ouddorp where my parents have been spending their vacation. Fortunately the weather was beautiful although it was partly cloudy on Sunday. This morning I ordered some new Papertrey Ink stamp sets, but now I am off to ink some of the older sets.

Until next time.

Happy Birthday Laura!

Today Laura Vegas, one of my fellow Jillibean Soup DT members is celebrating the big 4-0. I have been a follower of Laura's blog for a long time and was thrilled to find out that I was on the first Jillibean Soup DT with her. I really like Laura's style, the way she uses multiple photos on layouts, and her journaling and blog posts about everyday life.

To make this birthday a day Laura will always remember Lynn Ghahary and Carla Tarabus have organized a Birthday Blog Hop. Many of her fellow manufacturers' DT members are joining the party today. The Blog Hop starts on Lynn Ghahary's blog so if you stumbled upon my blog and would like to join the fun you should go to Lynn's blog. If you arrived from Juliana Michaels blog you are at the right place.

Laura, wishing you a Happy Birthday! Hope you have an awesome day.

Your next stop on this Birthday Blog Hop is Aly Dosdall.

Good morning! How are you? We have a fun weekend ahead of us. Hopefully the weather will be a bit better.

Today I have a layout to share with you that went up on the Jillibean Soup blog yesterday. I love to scrap old photos using the Old World Cabbage Stew collection. The little girl in the photo is my mom. The photo was taken in school in 1952.

Supplies: Patterned paper, coordinating cardstock stickers, journaling sprouts, alphabeans, canvas flowers, button, felt flower, kraft shipping tags, twine: Jillibean Soup (Soup Staples on Kraft, Old World Cabbage Stew | Pearls: Zva Creative (PE02CB102, PE03CA107) | Stickers: Making Memories alphabet stickers | Tools: EK Success Circle punch, We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper

Happy Birthday

Today my best friend Irma is celebrating her birthday. We have been knowing each other for more than 36 years. When my family and I moved into our new home in February 1974 we became neighbors. Her parents and mine have been best friends ever since too.

I stamped the background using A Little Argyle from Papertrey Ink. The gorgeous black crystal flourish from Zva Creative is actually larger, but I often cut the flourishes smaller so they fit on the card.

Crinkled ribbon in various colors is quite popular at the moment. Last week I hand-dyed some ribbon myself. The turquoise ribbon used on this card is one of the colors that I made myself. This  gorgeous turquoise and several other colors are available in my store.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Raven), Papertrey Ink (Hawaiian Shores, Rustic Cream) | Stamps: A Little Argyle, Fillable Frames #4, Communique Sentiments | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Hawaiian Shores), Memento (Tuxedo Black) | Button: Papertrey Ink (Hawaiian Shores) | Ribbon: own stash | Twine: May Arts | Crystals: Zva Creative (CR03CA107, CR02CB101) | Tools: Fillable Frames #4 Die, Cuttlebug Argyle embossing folder, We R Memory Keepers Corner Chomper | Other: foamtape

Thank you for stopping by.

I think you all know how much I {heart} my Papertrey Ink stamps, but Jillibean Soup has some wonderful stamps too. I mostly use Jillibean Soup papers for my DT projects, but this time I only used cardstock and my favorite flower stamp from Jillibean Soup. I first stamped some flowers on post-it notes and cut them out. I then did the masking technique. I stamped the first image on white cardstock, put a post-it note on the stamped flower and stamped another flower overlapping the first one and so on. I really like this technique.

Supplies: Card base: Action Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Green), Papertrey Ink (Stamper's Select White) | Stamps: Jillibean Soup (Sending Thoughts, Sentiments) | Ink: Memento (Rose Bud, Bamboo Leaves, Summer Sky, Tuxedo Black) | Flower: Jillibean Soup (Spring Fling Small) | Button: Rusty Pickle

Until next time!

Hi-ya! How was your weekend? We had a wonderful time. The weather was beautiful. We spent time outside and had a BBQ on Friday and Saturday. I enjoyed the Copic workshop last Saturday. I learned techniques from Nicole, but it's not that easy. The second image I colored was a bit better than the first one, but it takes a lot of practising.

Today I have another clean & simple card to share with you featuring one of my favorite Papertrey Ink colors.....Raspberry Fizz. Last week I finally broke out my Dotty Biscotti patterned paper. I truly hope the papers will become available in other colors too.

Supplies: All supplies from Papertrey Ink unless otherwise noted Cardstock: Raspberry Fizz, Bazzill Basics Paper (Kraft) | Patterned paper: Dotty Biscotti | Stamps: Fillable Frames #4, Say it with Style | Ink: Raspberry Fizz | Ribbon: Raspberry Fizz | Twine: May Arts | Buttons: Raspberry Fizz | Tools: Large Scalloped Border Die, Fillable Frames #4 Die | Other: foamtape

Have a Happy Monday!

Belated Birthday Wishes

Last Monday Jeanet, one of my fellow DT members at Paper & Pictures celebrated her birthday. I knew for weeks that May 31st was the date, and still I was a day too late to send her a card. So I quickly made her a belated birthday card. I mixed some Papertrey Ink goodies with Waltzingmouse Stamps. I seem to be in a clean & simple mode at the moment.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper (Kraft), Papertrey Ink (Hawaiian Shores) | Patterned paper: Papertrey Ink (Dotty Biscotti) | Stamps: Waltzingmouse Stamps (Pic-Nic Patterns, Fancy Phrases) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Hawaiian Shores) | Ribbon: Papertrey Ink (Hawaiian Shores twill) | Twine: May Arts | Buttons: Papertrey Ink (Hawaiian Shores) | Tools: Spellbinders Fancy Tags

Today I'll be having a class by Nicole teaching me and others how to color with Copics. I am not into stamps like Magnolia or any other 'cute' stamps - they are simply not my cup of tea - but I would love to learn the coloring technique so I can color my Papertrey Ink image stamps using Copics. My girls are a bit jealous at me and said they would like to join me. Last week I let them use my Copics. They have their own clear stamps, and really enjoyed coloring the images. I think my Copics are no longer safe for them. {wink}

Have a wonderful and sunny day!

I made this card for a colleague who recently got a baby boy.

Best Wishes

Yesterday I received my May release order from Papertrey Ink and despite the beautiful weather today I couldn't resist playing with my new stamps. I put my stamps in their CD cases this morning and while being busy I was thinking about Laura's Sketch 53 at 2 Sketches 4 You. All of a sudden it hit me that the Take Three: Summer stamp set would be the perfect set to use for Laura's Sketch. I combined the sketch with the new Papertrey Pals challenge. Mandy challenged us to use the colors Enchanted Evening, Hawaiian Shores, Aqua Mist and White. Here's my take on both challenges.

I used my new Linen & Canvas Impression Plate which is a bit hard to see in the first photo, so here's a close up...

Supplies: All supplies from Papertrey Ink unless noted otherwise Cardstock: Enchanted Evening, Stamper's Select White, Hawaiian Shores | Stamps: Take Three: Summer, Mixed Messages | Ink: Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Enchanted Evening | Ribbon: Enchanted Evening | Button: Hawaiian Shores | Twine: Rustic Cream | Tools: Linen & Canvas Impression Plate, Medium Scalloped Border Die, Spellbinders Nestabilities Classic Squares, sewing machine Other: foamtape, tag

Have a wonderful day. Until next time!

Jillibean Soup's Chicken Noodle

I haven't scrapped or stamped since Thursday, so I don't have anything new to show you. I do have a few projects though that I haven't posted on my blog yet. These two cards were published in the March/April 2010 issue of Cards Only. At the time Jillibean Soup's Chicken Noodle Collection was just released at CHA Winter 2010.

The first card is quite clean and simple. Since the big bow is the eyecatcher I didn't want to use any other embellishments. The scrumptious ribbon is available at BeebieBelle and comes in brown, black, soft blue, celery, pink, orange, red and purple.

Supplies: Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Cream) | Patterned paper: Jillibean Soup (Chicken Noodle) | Ribbon: May Arts | Stamps: Papertrey Ink (Tea for Two) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Dark Chocolate) | Pearls: Zva Creative | Tools: EK Success Embossed Curve border punch, sewing machine

And another card featuring Chicken Noodle.

Supplies: Cardstock, ribbon: Bazzill Basics Paper | Patterned paper, alphabeans, bean seeds, twine: Jillibean Soup | Button: Rusty Pickle | Ink: VersaColor (Pinecone) | Tools: Martha Stewart Daisy edge punch, EK Success Retro Flower punch small, sewing machine

I received my Papertrey Ink May release order today {smile}, so I have lots of new goodies to play with.

Until next time!
