Ribbons Unlimited Projects

After a 2.5 month sabbatical I went back to work on January 14th. It's good to be back, but I have less time and sometimes also less energy to be creative. I did create several projects for Ribbons Unlimited in the past few weeks. I'll show them all in this blog post.

The first project is a ribbon brooch made of Ribbons Unlimited's Double Face Satin Ribbon. The soft ribbon is perfect to use for this project. Instructions how to create this brooch can be found here.

SUPPLIES: Ribbon: Ribbons Unlimited (7/8" Double Face Satin Ribbon Antique White, 5/8" Grosgrain Spring Moss) | Pearls: Zva Creative | Felt: De Witte Engel | Other: Tacky glue

For my second project I used Double Face Satin Ribbon too. This time I used the ribbon to create a ruffled ribbon flower. Instructions can be found here.

SUPPLIES: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper | Patterned paper: October Afternoon | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Mat Stack no. 3 Collection) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Aqua Mist, Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo), Versafine (Vintage Sepia) | Ribbon: Ribbons Unlimited (7/8" Double Face Satin Ribbon in Crystalline) | Twine, doily: Cards & Wishes | Adhesive dots: Zva Creative | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Mat Stack no. 3 dies, Pinking Shears Border Die), sewing machine | Other: Tacky glue

I made Valentine's Day cards for my girls and Eric. Since I was very late I kept it simple. This is the card I made for Fleur. Quite clean & simple, but the beautiful Scarlet grosgrain ribbon gives it an extra touch.

SUPPLIES: Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (Pure Poppy, Vintage Cream) | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Background Basics: Hearts, Think Big Favorites #23) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Pure Poppy), Versafine (Onyx Black), A Muse Studio (Latte) | Ribbon: Ribbons Unlimited (5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon Scarlet) | Twine: Cards & Wishes | Button: Papertrey Ink | Adhesive dots: Zva Creative

This one's for Eric. It didn't turn out as I had in mind, but I had no time to create a new one.

SUPPLIES: Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (Rustic White), Bazzill Basics Paper (Kraft) | Patterned paper: October Afternoon | Clear stamps: Wplus9 (Cupid's Arrow) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Fresh White, Sweet Blush, Vintage Touch Tea Dye Duo), Versafine (Vintage Sepia) | Ribbon: Ribbons Unlimited (5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon Sideshow Rose) | Twine: Cards & Wishes | Button: MFT Stamps (Kraft) | Adhesive dots: Zva Creative | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Tag Sale #7 Die Collection), Wplus9 (Cupid's Arrow Die, XOXO Border Die) | Other: tag

And this the Valentine's Day card I made for Sanne. A clean & simple card using Melissa Bickford's Heart-2-Heart #11 stamp set.

SUPPLIES: Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (Raspberry Fizz), Bazzill Basics Paper | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Heart-2-Heart #11) | Ink: A Muse Studio (Cranberry, Bubblegum) | Adhesive dots: Zva Creative

Thank you for stopping by.

Ribbons Unlimited Design Team + Giveaway

Happy New Year! 2012 ended much better than it started. We had a tough time, but I'm happy that things have changed for the better. Our girl is healthy again and that is what's most important.

I would like to kick off the new year with some happy news. I'm one of the members of the first Ribbons Unlimited Design Team. Ribbons Unlimited is an established ribbon provider and I love to work with ribbon. More than a year ago I decided to step down from all my design team assignments due to personal circumstances. Now that life is (almost) back to normal again I would like to focus more on card making again.

Here's a card I made for one of Eric's friends who got a baby girl in December. I've been awaiting to receive my DT ribbon package so I used ribbon from my stash.

SUPPLIES: Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Cream), DCWV | Patterned paper: October Afternoon (Ducks in a Row, Cherry Hill) | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Night, Night Moon) | Ink: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch: Tea Dye Duo, Sweet Blush, Smokey Shadow) | Button: Papertrey Ink (White & Cream Mix) | Twine: Cards & Wishes | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Tiny Tags Die, Block Alphabet Die Collection, Heart Border Die, Pinking Shears Border Die), sewing machine | Other: coasters, ribbon, lace fabric, felt

Hop on over to the Ribbons Unlimited blog for another sample project. To welcome new friends to the blog Ribbons Unlimited has a giveaway. You can win 50 yards (45m) of satin ribbons if you become a follower of their blog and leave a comment on this blogpost with your choice of 10 colors.

And there's more......I may give away a ribbon prize package on my blog. Become a follower of the Ribbons Unlimited blog and leave a comment here on my blog. The deadline is Midnight on Friday January 4th. I'll randomly draw a winner on Saturday.

Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful day.

SSC86 | Van Harte Gefeliciteerd

Sanne, our youngest girl, is celebrating her 10th birthday today. She's been looking forward to this day for quite a while. We surprised her with gifts this morning, and a handmade card. The birthday card is based on Iwona Palamountain's Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #86. I used the Farm Girl collection from October Afternoon.

I cut the numbers and frame from patterned paper, but also from coaster-board to make them a bit thicker and more sturdy. The numbers were adhered with adhesive dots to create more depth.

I heat embossed the sentiment using white embossing powder.

SUPPLIES: Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Cream) | Patterned paper: October Afternoon (Farm Girl) | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Global Greetings: Dutch) | Ink: VersaMark, Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch: Tea Dye Duo) | Embossing powder: A Muse Studio (White) | Button: Papertrey Ink (White & Cream Mix) | Twine: Cards & Wishes | Lace: May Arts | Tools: Papertrey Ink (By the Numbers Die Collection, Half & Half Die Collection, Beautiful Blooms II #3 Die Collection), MFT Stamps (Die-namics Vintage Cameo Frame), sewing machine | Adhesive dots: Zva Creative | Other: Coasters

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas. Have a wonderful time with your family.

Retrosketches #42 | Merry Christmas

Another sketch challenge blog I came across recently is Retrosketches. I bookmarked their blog, but haven't had a chance yet to play along. I had to make a few more Christmas cards this week and used Sketch #42 as inspiration for the card I made for my mother-in-law. Again I used October Afternoon's Make it Merry collection.

The smaller snowflake is cut from glitter cardstock, but that's hard to see in the pictures.

SUPPLIES: Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Cream) | Patterned paper: October Afternoon (Make It Merry) | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Trees with Trimmings) | Ink: Versafine (Vintage Sepia), Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch: Tea Dye Duo) | Button: Buttons Galore & More | Twine: Cards & Wishes | Adhesive dots: Zva Creative | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Damask Snowflakes Die Collection), Wplus9 (Simple Snowflake Die, Timeless Tags), sewing machine | Other: glitter cardstock

Have a wonderful day.

SSC85 | Merry Christmas to You

I recently came across Iwona Palamountain's Sketchbook Saturday Challenges for the very first time. I visit Iwona's blog occasionally, but have never noticed her sketch challenges before. I guess I always checked her blog on the wrong day and never looked any further. Apparently I never noticed the sketch in the sidebar either. Well...I know of her challenges now and will play along more often. Here's my take on Challenge #85. I used the Make it Merry Christmas collection from October Afternoon.

And a close up of the embellishments. The rusty bells and ivory twine are available in my store.

SUPPLIES: Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Cream) | Patterned paper: October Afternoon (Make It Merry) | Clear stamps: Papertrey Ink (Vintage Ornaments) | Ink: Versafine (Vintage Sepia), Papertrey Ink (Vintage Touch: Tea Dye Duo) | Felt: Felt on the Fly | Button: Buttons Galore & More | Twine: Cards & Wishes | Lace: May Arts | Rusty bells: Cards & Wishes | Adhesive dots: Zva Creative | Tools: Papertrey Ink (Double-Ended Banners Die, Limitless Layers: 1 3/4" Circle Die Collection), Wplus9 (Simple Snowflake Die), sewing machine

I'll be back with another Christmas card tomorrow. Until then...

My sister-in-law Lisette is celebrating her birthday today. Eric and I just called her on Skype to congratulate her. The birthday card I made her arrived in time for her special day. I used 5 & Dime, one of the older October Afternoon collections.
